Tell us more about that work and its importance in our community.
Gay For Good is a national volunteer organization with a mission to mobilize lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and ally volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion and strengthen ties to the broader community.
Each of our 23 chapters partners with local nonprofits to organize projects for our volunteers. The Raleigh-Durham chapter (previously ReachOUT NC) was the first G4G chapter in the south and in North Carolina, although we are now joined by the Charlotte Metro chapter as well!
We have quite a few regular partners, including the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, A Note in the Pocket (an organization that provides clothes), Book Harvest, Made 4 Me (an organization that provides custom adaptive equipment and furniture), Habitat for Humanity, Crape Myrtle Festival (an organization that supports HIV/AIDs and LGBTQ+ organizations), among others.
How can we support that work?
We always welcome new volunteers, donations, and affirming partner organizations!
Anything else you would like to share?
G4G was one of the first groups I joined when I moved to the area, to find community - it’s a great way to get out and meet new people!
